Join us for a concert for all ages, featuring a chamber orchestra version of Prokofiev's 1936 classic "Peter and the Wolf" a "symphonic tale for children", the world premiere of a new work by Kaitlyn Raitz, and other musical animal explorations! Khalil Ekulona, host of This is Nashville, will guide us through the story of "Peter and the Wolf". Raitz, who has been involved with Nashville Zoo for nearly a decade, is inspired by the ways that music can illustrate the essence of diverse animals. In addition to the world premiere of her new animal overture, Raitz will also perform Kaija Saariaho's "Sept Papillons" for solo cello. These seven miniatures "each seem to be studies on a different aspect of fragile and ephemeral movement that has no beginning or end." In addition to these musical adventures, our friends at Nashville Zoo will be onsite with some animal surprises!
